Racing is a central part of sailing life at The Poole Yacht Club, bringing together sailors of all abilities to enjoy competitive and social sailing throughout the season.
The club runs a full programme of racing across the year, with regular races taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These events provide opportunities for both experienced racers and those new to competitive sailing to participate in an enjoyable and well-organised environment.
Our racing programme includes dinghies, keelboats, and cruisers, with a mix of class racing, club series, and seasonal competitions designed to encourage both performance and participation.

The Poole Yacht Club hosts several active dinghy and keelboat fleets, with regular class racing throughout the sailing season.
Races are organised to provide competitive sailing while maintaining a welcoming environment for sailors of all levels. Whether you are looking to develop racing skills or compete regularly, the club offers an excellent opportunity to be part of an active sailing community.
Cruiser racing takes place on Monday evenings during the summer season, offering relaxed but competitive racing within Poole Harbour.
During the winter months, racing continues on Sundays from October to December, allowing cruisers to remain active later in the year.
Cruiser racing is organised in cooperation with other yacht clubs across Poole Harbour, creating varied courses and strong participation across the harbour fleet.
In addition to club racing, weekend passage races are organised in partnership with the Poole Yacht Racing Association (PYRA), providing opportunities for longer coastal races and inter-club competition.
