Friendly Friday Dinghy Sailing is open to everyone and is a great way to end the week and start your weekend.
This is not a training session or a racing event. It is a relaxed social sail around the harbour, followed by a BBQ and drinks back at the club, either on the balcony or in the Academy Room.
The weekly briefing takes place at 6:15pm on the patio outside the changing rooms.
Launching will begin at 6:30pm, followed by up to 90 minutes of sailing around the harbour. A RIB will lead the group and provide safety cover throughout the session.
After sailing, everyone is welcome to return to the club for a BBQ and drinks from the bar.
There may also be opportunities to try crewing or helming on dinghies, including some R19s.

Pay Race FeesIf you do not have your own dinghy, you can hire a club boat and still take part in Friendly Friday. Boat hire is simple and convenient, and the Social Sailing Fee is already included in the hire cost, so there is nothing extra to pay. Club boats are a great option if you: Want to try sailing without owning a boat Prefer not to transport or maintain your own dinghy Would like a flexible, hassle-free way to join the session Availability may be limited, so early booking is recommended. Hire a Club BoatFriendly Friday is free to join if you have already paid Race Fees or are part of Big Shots.
If you are using your own boat and do not currently take part in Racing or Big Shots, you will need to pay a Social Sailing Fee.
The fee helps cover the cost of safety boats. It is charged per boat, not per person, and also gives you access to join club trophy races.
If you hire a club boat, the Social Sailing Fee is included in the hire cost.
Shrimpers and Cruisers do not need to pay, as they do not require safety cover. Anyone sailing as crew on these boats does not need to pay either.
